Alyssa's Doll House
When Thomas was born in 1994, I purchased a Lionel
Train before he even came home from the hospital (give me a break, he was born premature,
and there for four months). As our second child was a girl, this gave
me an opportunity to get into
something completely different, and still treat the kids equally.
The solution was to build Alyssa a dollhouse.
I turned to the Internet and visited some local
stores to do some research. I wanted to make sure I bought something not so big that
it would take forever to complete, but big enough and detailed enough that we wouldn't be
looking to upgrade in a few years.
While Christmas shopping, we stopped by one of the
local shops to look at their selection of toys, and to look at some of the dollhouse
stuff. Dollhouses were on sale and it was going to be her first Christmas after all!
We purchased the Montpelier Dollhouse kit by Real
Good Toys. It had the basic layout we were looking for and seemed to be a high
quality kit. We also spent an additional $100 on a kitchen table and chairs and a
canopy bed.
And so it began . . .
